Tortuga Sunrise
is located on a quiet cul-de-sac with easy and close access to the
beach (300 yd) and a lake on the sound side (just across the road).
This is a great location for children and the entire family. You
may walk, bike or drive to the beach access. A stroller is provided
for carrying a young child or beach items to the beach. The Villages
of Ocean Hill community offers a spectacular ocean-front
pool, a beautiful lakeside pool, and
well-equipped health club facility
(for a small fee per use), large tennis courts and a playground,
all within walking distance, a bike ride or a short drive.
You can take a moderate walk or leisure
bike ride (~0.3 mile) to the near-by Currituck
Lighthouse and the Whalehead Club/County
Park for
plenty of recreation, sightseeing and relaxation. The lighthouse
is open to visitors from April to November for access to the top
deck where you have panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean, the Currituck
Sound and the Outer Banks. You can also visit the lighthouse keeper’s
house, garden and a souvenir shop.
The Whalehead Club offers daily tour to view this
gorgeous, luxurious estate built on the Sound front. The Currituck
County Park is a fantastic
place for picnicking, fishing, crabbing or kayaking/canoeing where
you will also enjoy the wide-open green space, board walk, a gazebo
and sunset view on the Sound. A free boat
ramp is also available at
the County Park. The Outerbanks Center for Wildlife Education, which opened in 2006, is a great place for your family to visit. In addition, a county library and
several local restaurants, convenience
shops, and ocean/water recreational rentals are located within walking
distance or a short drive (~0.25 mile) from the house.
Tortuga Sunrise in Villages
of Ocean Hill is close to public
nature trials and Currituck Bank Estuary Reserve where you
can enjoy nature by walking in the woods and seeing
wildlife including birds, deer, horses, and more.
Some may enjoy shopping and dining
at some very unique shops and restaurants located in the Tim
Buck II community center which
is about a 10 minute drive from the house. There, you will also find
a farmer’s market for fresh produce/sea food and a large grocery
store, numerous specialty shops for coffee, bagels, ice cream, sandwich,
Chinese take-out and beach accessories. A movie rental
place and rentals for other recreational items are also located in
the same shopping center.
